MAKE LIFE POP

MAKE LIFE POP •

NISSAN | 2024-2025 | illustration • Motion design • visual direction • art direction

The brief was to create a bold, expressive visual direction that brought the campaign to life beyond a typical retail moment. It stemmed from the insight that Nissan drivers tend to stand apart. They’re more drawn to colour and more likely to make choices that reflect their personality.

From that, Make Life Pop became a way to express a more vibrant, optimistic view of everyday life. The idea was to move beyond simply showcasing products and instead create something that felt like a broader brand statement, full of character.

The visuals focused on strong, high-impact imagery paired with fluid motion. City environments were treated as active spaces, filled with colour and energy rather than static backdrops. Animation helped build a sense of movement and transformation, with colour flowing through scenes in a way that felt dynamic and alive. The vehicles sat naturally within this world, each bringing its own character while contributing to the overall sense of energy and individuality. The result was a confident, visually striking system that highlighted both the range and the personality of the brand.

In order to blend our colourful illustrations with the live footage, we had to track each of the car edits. We were building our end frame illustration and working backwards from there animating element by element.

Some scenes were more challenging than others so we approAched them in few different ways. We used a combination of Illustrator files for shots with little or simple movement; After Effects 3D camera tracking for more demanding ones, then built visuals with solids and patterns using tracking information, or even tracked by hand.

A year later, We joined TBWA for another run of “Make Life Pop” Nissan campaiGN. The idea behind it was exactly the same as first time round, with two new individual car edits for Juke & Qashqai, new range, and couple of refinements to the previous Ariya & X-Trail creatives.
